How does the PMBA support me?
The PMBA gives 100% of the money it collects back to the membership through various events and sponsorships, with the exception of the support given to minor sports in Vancouver and a few charities. Additionally, the PMBA pays for hospital TV rentals for members, their spouses, and their children. If a member has a new addition to their family, the PMBA will send a gift basket on behalf of the PMBA and the VPU. These are just a few examples of how the PMBA gives back.
Where and when are meetings held?
Monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month at 1700hrs, and they rotate between 2120 Cambie Street (even month) and 3585 Graveley Street (odd month). Meetings may be rescheduled to a different week due to scheduling conflicts but will always be held on a Thursday. Please check the General Announcements for up-to-date meeting dates.
Who can attend the monthly meetings?
Any active PMBA member can attend the meetings and attendance is encouraged! We love seeing new faces at our meetings and we are always looking for volunteers to help with events. Remember to bring a loonie for the attendance draw! First place is $75 and second place is $50 (third place takes the loonies).
How can the PMBA help a teammate that is sick or just had a new baby?
Give us a heads up by emailing pmba@vpd.ca. The PMBA supports its members in various ways, such as sending a gift basket for members with a new family member or delivering food to those going through difficult circumstances.How much are PMBA dues?
The initiation into the PMBA is still $5.00, but that money along with the monthly dues has as its primary purpose the benevolence of the membership. The monthly dues for members of the PMBA are 1/5 of 1% of a first-class constable’s salary.
